Protocol Overview

Biochemical testing (blood histamine, copper, zinc, methylation) to identify biotypes and prescribe targeted nutrients. Five main biotypes: undermethylation, overmethylation, copper overload, pyrrole disorder, normal.

Protocol Steps

Testing: Blood histamine, serum copper, ceruloplasmin, zinc, kryptopyrrole (urine), homocysteine

Identify biotype: Undermethylation (high histamine) - 38% of depression

Overmethylation (low histamine) - 20%

Copper overload - 17%

Pyrrole disorder - 15%

Normal - 10%

Undermethylation treatment: SAMe 400-800mg, methionine, calcium, magnesium, B6, folate (not methylfolate)

Overmethylation treatment: Folic acid/methylfolate, B12, B3 (niacinamide), Zn, Mn, AVOID SAMe

Copper overload treatment: Zinc 50mg, vitamin C, B6, molybdenum, avoid copper

Pyrrole disorder treatment: Vitamin B6 200-800mg, zinc 50-100mg, biotin, take twice daily

Adjust doses based on symptoms and follow-up testing

Monitor every 3-6 months, adjust protocol
